Flower Basket Shawl

Anleitung|Pattern: Interweave Knits, Fall 2004 by Evelyn Clark
| The pattern is wonderful and easy with clear instructions and a selfscalloping edging that's as pretty as it is clever.

Nadeln|Needles: 3.75 mm
Größe|Size: width 200 cm | 78", depth 100 cm | 39"

Bird's Eye Shawl

The pattern for this shawl is by Sharon Miller, author of the book "Heirloom Knitting". It can be downloaded from her homepage for free. At first glance the pattern looks totally complicated since every row is a pattern row. But once you've got the hang of it, it is easily memorized and never gets boring. It's an amazing and nonetheless easy pattern.

Nadeln|Needles: 3 mm
Größe|Size: 122 x 122 cm | 48 x 48 inches

Print O' The Wave Scarf

The pattern for this scarf is form Sharon Miller's Book "Heirloom Knitting". I worked it with 75 stitches from the center out. To do so, I used a provisional cast on which I undid after being finished with the first half of the scarf. I picked up the stitches and worked the sencond half top down. Why all this trouble, why not just knit it in one direction? Well, I wanted to have both side of the scarf identical and the waves descending from the shoulders. It worked out nicely :-) To frame the nice multicolor hand dyed yarn I used a similar pattern for the edging but chose grey wool to pronounce the body of the scarf a bit.
Material|Yarn: 105 g 2-fädige Merinowolle von der Kone, handgefärbt | 3.75 oz 2-ply Merino extrafine, hand dyed, machine knitting yarn from the cone
Nadeln|Needles: 4.5 mm
Größe|Size: Länge|Lenght 1.85 m; Breite|Width 58 cm

Pfauenschal | Feather and Fan Scarf

This scarf features the well known feather and fan pattern. There are a myriad of variations of this nice stitch pattern out there, I guess. I used the traditional pattern, did 5 repeats and added some extra stitches for a garter stitch border.
Material|Yarn: 2-fädige Merinowolle extrafein, Maschinenstrickgarn von der Kone | 2-ply Merino extrafine, machine knitting yarn from the cone
Nadeln|Needles: 4.5 mm
Größe|Size: Länge|Lenght 1.75 m; Breite|Width 30 cm

Butterfly Shetland Shawl

Anleitung|Pattern: Ich wollte immer schon mal einen Shawl in der klassischen Schettländischen Kontruktion stricken. Da mich kommerziell erhältliche Anleitungen nicht sehr ansprachen habe ich meinen eigenen Shetland Shawl designt. |
I always wanted to do a traditional shetland shawl but the commercially available patterns were either too complicated or didn't catch my eye. So I just made up a design of my own.

Spitzenhandschuhe | Fingerless Lace Gloves

Inspired by a discussion on the "knitted lace mailing list" I went on the search and found a picture and a pattern for lace gloves dating from th 1920s. The pattern seemed too complicated to I discarded it and only saved the picture on my hard disk. By looking at the photograph closely I reworked the glove and ended up with a quite satisfying pattern.
Material|Yarn: #10 Häkelgarn | crochet cotton white
Größe|Size: Länge 26 cm, paßt an eine mittlere Frauenhand | Lenght 26 cm, fits a middle sized women's hand
Nadeln|Needles: 1.75 mm

Fir Cone Highland Triangle

Anleitung|Pattern: Folk Shawls by Cheryl Oberle
This shawl combines the patterns "Fir Cone Square Shawl" and "Highland Triangle Shawl" from Cheryl's book. I always wanted to do the fir cone pattern, but I didn't have enough time for doing the square. Plus I loved the border Cheryl came up with for her Highland Shawl. Clever me put one and one together and this is the outcome. It was the welcome home present for my sister after her half year stay in Sweden. She's the one modelling the shawl in the enlarged pictures.
Material|Yarn: 2 ply merino extrafine, 1 ply merino/acryl, 1 ply cashmere blend - stranded together; ca. 180m/50g, sock weight yarn
Größe|Size: 180 cm from tip to tip
Nadeln|Needles: 5 mm
Anmerkung|Note: The yarns were three different colors - mint green, olive green and chocolate brown. The result is somewhat of a tweedy, mottled army green. I really like it and it perfectly suits the pattern.

Lotus Blossom Shawl, rectangular

Anleitung|Pattern: Best of Knitter's "Shawls and Scarves"
Material|Yarn: Schachenmayr Rheumawolle, color offwhite, 100% new wool, 310m/50g, 4 skeins
Größe|Size: 80cm x 200cm - Never thought it would end up that large. It looked so small and crumpled on the needles. But that's part of the fascination of lace.
Nadeln|Needles: 3,75 mm
Anmerkung|Note: I fell in love with the pattern instantly but didn't want to make it a triangle. So I took the charts and converted them to come out as a rectangle.

Cherry Blossom Shawl, slightly altered

Anleitung|Pattern: Interweave Knits Spring 2002, p. 32
Material|Yarn: Maschinenstrickgarn|Machine knitting yarn, 30% Cashmere, 30% Silk, 40% Viskose; 900m/50g
Größe|Size: 150 cm in Diameter
Nadeln|Needles: 3 mm
Anmerkung|Note: Since I did the pattern in considerably thinner yarn than suggested I added an increase round and continued in a kind of horse shoe pattern for some repeats. I chose a somewhat wider edging to complete the shawl. It really came out as a breeze.

Blue Garter Stich Shawl

Anleitung|Pattern: I just startet and made the pattern up on the fly.

Bookmarks

Material|Yarn: Häkelgarn/Cotton thread #10, 265m/50g
Nadeln|Needles: 2-2,5 mm
Anmerkung|Note: Bookmarks were my first attempt in lace knitting. After that I progressed to knitting meters and meters of edging wich ended up sewn to natural white linen fabric and made a beautiful table runner given to my mom. After that I didn't fear anything in lace knitting. You just do one stich after another to reach the end of a project ;)
